Love Your Kids

Your kids didn’t choose you as their parent. You chose to have them. They are not here to serve us; we are here to serve them. Today’s post is as much a reminder for me as it is for you. Parenting is hard. There’s no way around it. For many of us, it’s the hardest thing we will ever do. And that’s what makes it beautiful.

I have a 5 ½ year old boy and 4 ½ year old girl. They challenge me in ways that I have never been challenged before. Attention. Patience. Intention of words. For example, just this morning I made a wrong turn and my son reminded me. My daughter knows where things belong in our house far better than I ever have. I am supposed to be the teacher. The guru. And yet, they are the ones teaching me every day.

So, this post isn’t about answers, it’s much more about questions. Questions that I am asking myself and perhaps you can ask yourself. If you have any great answers, I’d love to hear from you. Parents need to support parents. We are in this together.

1.     How do you nurture your child’s nature?

2.     How do you instill humility and confidence in your child?

3.     When, if ever, is it appropriate to lie to your child?

4.     What’s the best parenting advice you have ever received?

5.     What have you changed about yourself to ensure that you can best serve your child?
