Mistakes and Opportunities

The best football catches occur when the QB makes a bad throw—think of Justin Jefferson’s catch last year versus the Bills. The best golf shots typically occur after bad shots—think of Bubba Watson at the Masters. The best saves in hockey occur from defensive breakdowns—think of a goalie standing on their head to make a save.

Perhaps our biggest mistakes lead to our biggest opportunities.

Think about it. When have opportunities been presented to you? Do they always show up after success? Innovations often show up in times of crisis. Adversity can certainly lead to tremendous stress, yet it can also lead to tremendous growth. Let’s not forget that.

The next time you make a mistake, take a moment, look around, and seek out the ensuing opportunities. Who knows, maybe something special will happen.
