Value Onboarding
Onboarding is undervalued.
Many organizations don’t have a system and a process to welcome their new hires. Instead, they throw them in the fire. It’s sink or swim. Instead of taking an opportunity to share what they value, why they do what they do, how they do it, and where they are heading, they miss a critical opportunity to not just share but also to learn.
A new employee gives a fresh perspective. They provide an opportunity to share how they see the company and expose potential blind spots. It’s a rare opportunity to get an invested outside assessment of strengths/weaknesses. Think of new hires as consultants. They have tremendous capacity to add value.
The best onboarding provides opportunity to educate and learn. Create an intentional process to take advantage of this critical stage in development.
