Wealth
What is wealth? We often attach it to money. Nice things. Capacity. Yet, I love this definition of wealth: plentiful supplies of a particular resource. Can it be money? Sure. But it can also be family, friends, health and more. We need to change our perception of wealth. We need to think more clearly about how we can increase our reserves of a resource that we value. Similar to how many think about money.
Let’s start with health. What if we approached our health the same way we approached our capacity to earn money? What if we approached it with the same doggedness, time, focus, etc.? Obviously, that’s not possible or realistic for most of us, but you get the picture. When we think of health as wealth, we will probably invest more time, energy, and money into it. Great health requires investment.
Family and friends are no different. A man with all the money in the world who has no strong relationships will die a lonely death. Great relationships are wealth. For some it might be with a focus on friends, for others it may be with family, but it’s hard to argue someone is wealthy without meaningful connections.
So, what’s your definition of wealth? How can you cultivate plentiful supplies of that resource? Go get them.
