Rejection

It stings, but rejection can be a great form of opportunity. I have had many rejections, but here are some of my favorites.

Rejection:

I got cut from my high school basketball team.

Opportunity:

I started coaching basketball teams.

Rejection:

I applied for Teach for America when I was a Senior in college and got rejected.

Opportunity:

I spent that time learning about what others did for a living and discovered the wide world of Psychology.

Rejection:

My wife wasn’t interested in me the first time I met her.

Opportunity:

I persisted and convinced her to go on a date with me.

Life is filled with rejections and opportunities. Sometimes we need to pivot. Other times we need to head in the completely opposite direction. And of course, there are times to persist as well. What are some rejections that led to opportunities in your life? How can we lean into our rejections and seek opportunities that might still exist?
